With grotesques entwined in arabesque foliage and scrollwork bordering scalloped cartouches. The ornamentation inspired by artists working in the 16th century including Erasmus Hornick, Du Cerceau, and Etienne Delaune. Articles fabricated by Milanese armorers and goldsmiths like Francesco Negroli and the Negroli Family, such as a suit of armor made in 1540 for the Dauphin Henri, future Henri II, capture the taste for silver damascened articles in the 16th century.
