An exceedingly rare and exquisite padlock with Imperial Chinese dragon motifs on both sides Imperial Chinese, made for use by the imperial household exclusively.
The top panel section of the lock is cast with a six-character reign mark, together with the inner spring locking mechanism, key, and mounting hardware. Six-character reign mark of Emperor Wanli, Ming dynasty. February 2, 1573 August 27, 1620.
